Upcycling for
the Future

Upcycling for the Future – is our partnership project with Air Astana for upcycling airplane components. We've transformed parts of Boeing 767 and Airbus A320 planes into unique interior pieces: a table and seats made from the plane seat frame, a bench from luggage racks, and a chair from the airplane's nose.

It all started with a semiotic study of trends for positioning the Air Astana brand. In the aviation industry, sustainability remains one of the most critical issues.

To stay on top of environmental ethics, we created a project to upcycle airplane parts.

The exhibition "Upcycling for the Future" is the first upcycling project on sustainability among Kazakhstan airlines.

3500 visitors attended the exhibition over 3 days. We observed people's interest in the details of each object and active discussion on how it's made.

"By upcycling unique parts and rare materials, we not only create sustainable, long-lasting products but also preserve the spirit of the airplane itself, the emotions lived by passengers during their journeys. And therefore, we move airplane objects into an everyday context" –

stated Peter Foster, President of Air Astana, at the exhibition opening.
